What is PRP?
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It's a treatment that uses a part of your own blood to help with healing and regeneration in different areas of the body, like the scalp (for hair growth) or the skin (for skin rejuvenation).
Here’s how it works:
Blood Collection: A small amount of your blood is drawn, usually from your arm.
Processing: The blood is placed in a machine called a centrifuge. This machine spins the blood really fast to separate the different components of the blood, such as red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma. The plasma, which is rich in platelets (a type of cell that helps your blood clot), is collected.
Treatment: The concentrated platelets are then injected into the targeted area—like the scalp or skin.
Healing and Restoration: The platelets contain special proteins called growth factors, which stimulate the healing process by promoting tissue repair, reducing inflammation, and encouraging the growth of new cells.
PRP is a natural, non-surgical way to help the body heal itself by using its own resources.

Yes, PRP is generally safe because it uses your own blood, so there’s no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection. Since it's minimally invasive, the risks are low. Some people may experience mild side effects, like swelling, redness, or mild pain at the injection site, but these usually go away in a few days. It's important to have the procedure done by a trained professional to ensure the treatment is performed correctly.
Because PRP is based on your body’s own healing process, it’s a natural and safe way to help with issues like hair loss, aging skin, or joint pain. However, like with any treatment, it's important to discuss it with a healthcare professional to make sure it's right for you.

The number of treatments needed can vary depending on what you're using PRP for. For example, if you're getting PRP for hair restoration, most people need about 3 treatments spaced a few weeks apart, with follow-up treatments every 6–12 months. For skin or joint treatments, it might be similar. Your doctor will give you a specific treatment plan based on your needs and goals.

The recovery time for PRP is usually pretty short since it's minimally invasive. You might experience mild redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area for a few days, but most people can go back to normal activities right away. There’s no major downtime, but it’s a good idea to avoid intense exercise or heat treatments (like saunas) for a couple of days after the procedure.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is not a cure for baldness, but it can be an effective treatment for certain types of hair loss. It works by stimulating hair follicles and encouraging hair growth, especially in cases of androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness) or hair thinning. While PRP can help improve hair density and strength, it doesn’t reverse complete baldness or regrow hair in areas that are entirely bald. For the best results, PRP is most effective when used in the early stages of hair loss. It’s important to keep in mind that results can vary from person to person.
